Jacob Swartz House Bed and Breakfast
The ultimate in privacy is yours in this secluded Shenandoah River cottage
where nature and history combine forces to create a perfect setting for a delightful
journey. Nestled on a wooded hillside of the Shenandoah River's North Fork is the cobbler
shop, built by Jacob Swartz, which withstood the 1864 Battle of New Market and later raid
by Custer. Jacob's shop has evolved with each new owner to its current refurbishment as a
private get-away for today's traveler. The cottage is ideal for a family, friends
traveling together or a single traveler each in search of a lazy peaceful place to pass
some idle hours of leisure.
Sharing the 3.5 acre river-bluff grounds with the 1852 Swartz
House, the self-contained cottage features two bedrooms (1-loft), each with a private
bath, living room with wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, sunroom
(TV/VHS/DVD), screened porch and terrace with charcoal grill and firepit.
Be active; be quiet. Here your time is your own and a sumptuous breakfast (juice, seasonal
fruit, egg entree and freshly baked muffins) is ready when you are. Soothe your soul in
the restful luxury of a spacious detached cottage. Toast the sunset on your own
river-bluff terrace; dip your toes in the singing river, dream by the fire, count
fireflies from the screened porch, wish upon a star as you drift to sleep. Remember how
good you feel and promise yourself to return to the Jacob Swartz House accommodation again
and again.
